Meet our team.
Garry Benford, Fitness and Wellness Director As Personal Fitness and Wellness Director at The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute, Garry Benford helps patients transition from injury or physical therapy to a long-term, sustainable fitness program. He also hosts a free, monthly workshop titled "401 Fitness: An Investment in You."
A certified personal fitness trainer and strength and conditioning specialist, Garry holds a master's degree in exercise science and sports medicine from Slippery Rock University, where he was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009.
In 1989, he was inducted into the Powerlifting Hall of Fame and in 1990 he was named an Elite Level Powerlifter. He is an eight-time National Masters Powerlifting Champion; an American Masters Squat Record Holder at age 43; and a World Masters Bench Press Record Holder at age 53 following a series of joint replacement surgeries, including both shoulders and hips. All procedures were performed by physicians at The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute.
He authored "Powerlifting: A Guide for Coaches and Athletes" and speaks nationally on the topics of fitness and nutrition.
Timothy J. Rosch, Certified Athletic Trainer
Tim is a certified athletic trainer, with a bachelor's degree in physical education from The Ohio State University. He is a certified JumpStretchTM and SportsmetricsTM instructor, as well as a certified body fat assessor for the Ohio High School Athletic Association. Tim leads a nationally-recognized ACL injury prevention program, sport-specific injury prevention workshops, Ohio Department of Education coaching clinics and he works hand-in-hand with our physical therapy team.
He served as clinical and outreach athletic trainer with a local sports medicine and orthopaedic practice before joining the Physical Therapy & Performance Center at The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute. Tim has supported the Columbus All-American Summer Collegiate Baseball Team as athletic trainer since 1996, and the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament from 2007 to present. His professional memberships include the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the Ohio Athletic Trainers' Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
