Raymond K. Wurapa, M.D.

Dr. Raymond Wurapa is an orthopaedic surgeon, specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. He has unique expertise in tendon, nerve and soft tissue reconstructions; elbow, wrist and hand arthritis; carpal tunnel and other neuropathies; and upper extremity trauma reconstruction. He has been a partner with The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute since 2001.

Dr. Wurapa has contributed to several textbooks and publications, and is a design consultant for several orthopaedic instrument manufacturers. He has invented multiple surgical instruments, including the Wurapa Small Joint Compressor and Distractor, and Mini-open Carpal Tunnel Retractor System. He also invented the Extremity Surgical Irrigation Basin (Patent Pending) for use in hospital operating rooms, emergency rooms, wound care centers and military field hospitals.

Dr. Wurapa earned a Certificate of Added Qualification for Hand Surgery, and is an active member of both the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Association for Hand Surgery. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is also a member of the Jefferson Hand Society, Ohio Orthopaedic Society and Columbus Orthopaedic Society.
