Practice will merge three, existing Westerville offices into comprehensive new center
The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute will merge three, existing Westerville offices into comprehensive new center in January 2012
COLUMBUS, Ohio (AUGUST 26, 2011) – The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute hopes to begin seeing patients at its newest location at 560 N. Cleveland Avenue in January 2012. This new 20,000 square-foot facility will merge three existing offices, 164 Wetherby Lane, 568 S. Cleveland Avenue and 300 Polaris Parkway, into one comprehensive orthopedic care center, featuring a second Physical Therapy & Performance Center site, occupational hand therapy and MRI services.
The practice began construction in August 2011 with an enhanced patient experience in mind. Currently Cardinal does not offer any form of therapy or MRI services in the Westerville market.
In addition to this new office, the practice will continue seeing patients at its six other central Ohio locations in Gahanna/Reynoldsburg, Hilliard/Dublin, Powell, Canal Winchester, Sunbury and Grove City. Of the total 29 physicians, seven will hold office hours at the new facility, working alongside a staff of roughly 20-25 physician assistants, therapists, nurses and medical and administrative staff.
The group anticipates the creation of 9-10 jobs as a result of the new facility. This will include approximately five physical therapists and four additional clinical and administrative positions.
Westerville Vision
Between May and July 2010, The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute welcomed two existing Westerville orthopaedic practices – Westerville Orthopaedics, Inc. and Northeast Orthopedics, Inc. As a result of this merger, the practice has been operating two full-time and one satellite office in Westerville.
“Moving all of our Westerville physicians and staff under one roof will not only improve communication and operations internally, but will offer an enhanced experience for our northeast patient population,” according to Dr. Christopher D. Holzaepfel, partner and physician with The Cardinal Orthoapedic Institute. “Patients will have access to specialties and services we currently do not offer in this market, including on-site physical and occupational therapy, digital imaging, neck and spine and hand and upper extremity specialists.”
The second-floor exam space can accommodate four physicians simultaneously, which affords Cardinal the opportunity to introduce additional specialists, including hand and upper extremity, foot and ankle, neck and spine or physical medicine and rehabilitation physicians, based on the level of demand.
“We look forward to strengthening and deepening our relationships within the Westerville market,” says Dale Ingram, CEO, The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute. “Our physicians have long provided quality orthopaedic care to this northeast region, and we hope this new facility will provide them with a platform for a more comprehensive and patient-centered approach to care.”
Beginning January 2012, the following physicians will hold office at the new Westerville location: Kenneth J. Westerheide, M.D.; Merle L. Kennedy, M.D.; Joseph F. Wilcox, M.D.; Christopher D. Holzaepfel, M.D.; David L. Louis, M.D.; Robert T. Gorsline, M.D.; Derek L. Snook, M.D.; and Daniel Quinn, M.D..
