The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute Expands Westerville Presence

Cardinal to merge with two established Westerville orthopaedic practice groups

COLUMBUS, Ohio (July 1, 2010) – The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute is pleased to announce it will increase its presence in the growing Westerville community this year, welcoming two existing orthopaedic groups to the practice. On May 1, the physicians and staff of Northeast Orthopedics, Inc., (NOI) joined the practice, followed by the physicians and staff of Westerville Orthopedics, Inc., (WOI) on July 1.

These mergers increase the number of board-certified orthopaedic surgeons at Cardinal from 22 to 26, and the number of locations from five to eight.

Cardinal plans to maintain its existing Westerville satellite location in the Ohio Health Westerville Medical Campus, while the incoming physicians and staff at NOI and WOI will continue seeing patients at their current office locations at 164 Wetherby Lane, 568 South Cleveland Avenue, Suite F, and 700 W. Cherry Street in Sunbury.

Drs. Joseph Wilcox and Merle Kennedy of NOI will begin seeing patients under The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute name as of May 1; and Drs. Chris Holzaepfel and David Louis of WOI as soon as July 1.

“Existing patients can expect the same quality orthopaedic care from the physicians they’ve come to trust,” says Dr. Joseph F. Wilcox, Northeast Orthopedics, Inc. “There will be no changes to existing physician-patient relationships.”

“The transition will be such that patients and referring physicians should not experience any significant changes in service or care,” says Dr. Joel Politi, president, The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute. “We all share a similar set of priorities, with quality care and outstanding service at the top of the list.”

“The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute has a long-standing reputation within the central Ohio community and shares our mission to provide patients with improved quality of life through personal attention and expert orthopedic care,” added Dr. David Louis, Westerville Orthopedics, Inc.

Long-term Vision

“This move demonstrates a commitment to provide greater convenience and access to patients in the NE region of central Ohio now and into the future,” says Dale Ingram, CEO, The Cardinal Orthopaedic Institute.

In the coming years, the practice will explore opportunities to increase efficiencies and consolidate its Westerville footprint. The group is also considering opportunities to introduce more specialized orthopaedic care, and related services, to its list of offerings in the area.

“Over time, we plan to learn from one another and adapt best practices across the board,” says Politi. “Throughout this journey, we welcome feedback and encourage suggestions for improvement from our patients and fellow physicians.”
