Meet the Director

Garry Benford, Fitness & Wellness Director
Garry is the center's director and lead personal trainer. In this role, he helps patients transition from injury or physical therapy to a long-term and sustainable fitness program.

A certified personal fitness trainer and strength and conditioning specialist, Garry holds a master's degree in exercise science and sports medicine and is recognized as an Elite Level Powerlifter.

Most importantly, he understands the challenges orthopedic patients face when pursuing fitness and weight-loss goals. He, himself, has undergone a series of joint replacement surgeries and continues to set powerlifting records into his 50s.

About the Center

The Fitness & Wellness Center offers the same amenities and equipment as mainstream gyms, with one very important difference. This center is designed and equipped to meet the fitness needs of the practice's wide range of orthopedic patients, including those with limited mobility.

It is a place where recovering athletes can regain lost skills; post-operative patients can move from physical therapy to a sustained fitness routine; and patients of all sizes and fitness levels can pursue their weight-loss goals.

Strength-building, cardio and functional spaces allow members to pursue activities specific to their unique fitness goals.

The center's programs and classes are also developed with this type of member in mind. In some cases, entire classes can be done from a sitting position, which allows those with extremely limited mobility the opportunity to lose weight and improve strength.
